Mrs. Carol Zurcher (Retired)

Africa South Field

1959 to 1994

Carol’s late husband, Rev. Norman Zurcher, was the field director for the 24 districts which make up the Africa South Field. She often travelled with him, sometimes speaking at district NWMS (now NMI) Conventions and Ladies’ Retreats. She was a great encouragement to the wives of the district superintendents and the missionary ladies.

She wrote 3 1/2 missionary books and did a lot of office work as well as entertaining in their home.

Carol graduated from Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University) with a BS in Elementary Education. She received a definite call from the Lord to go to Africa as a missionary when she was 13 years old. She and Norman pastured two churches on the Northeastern Indiana District prior to leaving for Africa in January 1959.

Her family is made up of three married children and eight grandchildren.

Since her husband died in December 2000 at the age of 70, she has served her local church (Huntington, Indiana First Church) as their local NMI President.
